Spartaco Nanni was born in Civitella S. Paolo (Rome) in 1949 He started working at a young age where he soon met noted artists and professionals from whom he acquired his first impressions of metalworking. In 1977 he won a public competition for a job post and was hired by the Federal Mint as a specialized craftsman in the Workshop of the Coin Production Department. In 1988 he was promoted to Head of the Coin Production Department of the Federal Mint.
